Hungarian – Base Operations Course

At A2 level you will be able to:

• Communicate in Hungarian in routine situations that require a simple and direct exchange of information on familiar topics and activities.
• Handle very short social exchanges, even though you can’t usually understand enough to keep the conversation going yourself.
• Use a series of phrases and sentences to describe in simple terms your family and other people, living conditions, your educational background and your present or most recent job.

At A1 level you will be able to:

• Interact in a simple way provided the other person is prepared to repeat or rephrase things at a slower rate of speech and help you formulate what you’re trying to say.
• Ask and answer simple questions in areas of immediate need or on very familiar topics.
• Use simple phrases and sentences to describe where you live and people you know.

At A2 level you will be able to:

• Understand phrases and the highest frequency vocabulary related to areas of most immediate personal relevance (e.g. very basic personal and family information, shopping, local geography, employment).
• Understand the main points in short, clear, simple messages and announcements.

At A1 level you will be able to:

• Recognise familiar words and very basic phrases concerning yourself, your family and immediate concrete surroundings when people speak slowly and clearly.

At A2 level you will be able to:

• Read very short, simple texts.
• Find specific, predictable information in simple everyday material such as advertisements, prospectuses, menus and timetables and understand short simple personal letters

At A 1 level you will be able to:

• Understand familiar names, words and very simple sentences, for example on notices and posters or in catalogues.

At A2 level you will be able to:

• Write short, simple notes and messages relating to matters in areas of immediate need.
• Write a very simple personal letter, for example thanking someone for something.
• Write a series of simple phrases and sentences linked with simple connectors like “and”, “but“ and “because“.

At A1 level you will be able to:

• Write a short, simple postcard, for examples sending holiday greetings
• Fill in forms with personal details, for example entering your name, nationality and address on a hotel registration form or flight landing card.
