Courses for families of learners/assignees
By equipping families of employees or assignees with the skills needed to effectively communicate in Slovak, they are able to settle into their new home and country with ease.
Frequently, families are keen to learn more about the local culture of Slovakia as well as the Slovak language, and because their trainers are native speakers who are local to the country, this aspect is easily introduced to their courses.
Children’s courses
Children’s courses are targeted towards the needs of the child, and we ensure that the trainers we have for these courses have relevant experience of teaching children at the level required and are full-background checked.
We provide Lessons for children as young as 5 years old. Sessions are fun and interactive and focus on learning through play, games and music. Course content is fully tailored to each child and is media rich and often incorporates technology such as learning apps and video clips. It also possible to provide group lessons for siblings of a similar age group, who would enjoy learning together!
Our courses for children are not just for acquiring a new language though, as we also provide classes to maintain the child’s mother tongue, particularly for young children, to enable them to continue the curriculum of “back home” – effectively eliminating another common anxiety of parents moving abroad with their children.
Family support
For spouses and partners, the trainer’s role is not limited to being a language trainer, but also to act as a companion. Very often, the spouse or partner’s trainer becomes their first “port of call” for help – at a time when they’re in a foreign country, they are provided with someone who has local knowledge and can be relied upon for advice and support.
While the employee or assignee has the opportunity to meet locals in the workplace, in many cases, the trainer is the first and only person to spend time with their families. As such their role is two-fold: firstly, to provide language training that enables them to settle in and integrate with the local population, and secondly to provide companionship at a time where they may feel lonely, overwhelmed, or homesick.
In addition to the core mission of providing language training, trainers become friends and guides to the partners of these assignees. They help to support them, acting as integral support during what can otherwise be a difficult time, offering an introduction to day-to-day, practical issues around settling in to their new home and providing practical, local advice and support on top of their language training.
